Seminary for Expository Preaching
The Seminary for Expository Preaching (SEPE) is a program grounded on the basic conviction that expository preaching is not a delivery method, but a mandate for precision.
THE MAN OF GOD MUST:
GOD DEMANDS
the clear and precise exposition of the Scriptures so that Christ will be exalted and understood with accuracy by the listener. Expository preaching is the only kind of preaching that meets God's mandate for the instruction and exhortation of His church. Such a command requires a precise preparation that runs through the exegetical process. The pastor who attends SEPE will receive the necessary tools to interpret, explain, and apply the Word of God with precision and clarity, in order for him to exalt Christ, retain and defend the faithful Word, and exhort with sound teaching (Titus 1:9).
THE TASK
of the pastor today is no different than Paul’s charge to Timothy: “I solemnly charge you before God...preach the word” (2 Tim. 4:2) and “be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman…accurately handling the word of truth (2 Tim. 2:15).
POWER
The preacher has to commit himself to the full authority of the Scriptures that, through it and its clear preaching, they have the ability to produce hearts transformed and submitted to the Lordship of Christ. Our desire is to prepare men who depend on the transformative power that is unleashed by a bold preaching of God's Word (2 Tim. 3:16-17).
PASSION
The preacher must have the commitment and personal conviction to live what he preaches. Our desire is to form men of God who manifest, in their preaching, a life transformed by the Word of God. The life of the preacher should reflect a total dedication both in his ministerial life and in his personal life (Titus 2:11-14).
PRECISION
The preacher must always remain relentlessly attached to the biblical text in the preaching, having fulfilled a precise exegesis that applies the literal-grammatical-historical method of interpretation. Our desire is to equip men of God with the capacity and tools necessary for an accurate and divinely approved preaching of the Word of God. This is nothing more and nothing less than expository preaching (2 Tim. 2:15)!
PASTORAL PREPARATION
SEPE students are men called to ministry who are currently performing in a teaching ministry within their local church as a pastor/elder or key leader (1 Tim. 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9; 2 Tim. 2:2).
EXEGETIC PRIORITY
The consistent application of the original languages, hermeneutics, and the biblical introduction to the biblical text is called exegesis. This forms the foundation and heart of the SEPE curriculum. Only through accurate exegesis of God's Word can a biblical and systematic theology be truly expository and understood. SEPE seeks to prepare faithful men to be accurate exegetes in the interpretation, explanation and application of the Word of God, so that Christ is clearly exalted through the preacher.
ACADEMIC INTEGRITY
SEPE has conformed its study plan with the international requirements of accredited institutions abroad. The student who graduates from SEPE will receive the corresponding title in Biblical Exposition based on their previously accredited educational trajectory. Most of SEPE's resident professors have a master's degree in Biblical Studies, and most of the visiting professors have a doctorate from an accredited institution. To maintain academic integrity, our institution requires suitably qualified men.

AFFORDABLE ENROLLMENT
To account for the pastor’s critically important ministry within his local church, SEPE has accommodated his academic schedule by offering classes in two-week modules. During these two weeks, the student will reside and study within the MEDA facilities. Upon completion of the module, the student returns home to finish assignments and continue his pastoral responsibilities.
The module takes place every 4 – 5 weeks. In doing this, not only does the pastor or leader avoid being absent from his church for an extended time period, but his church also immediately reaps the benefits of the pastor’s ongoing training.
ACADEMIC RIGOR
We are firmly committed to equip the student not only with academic skills but, more importantly, the wisdom to live a godly life in his family, his church, and his community. To this end, we provide many opportunities to disciple our students both in and outside of the classroom. We also work with the local church leadership to ensure their involvement in the spiritual welfare of our students.
SEPE acknowledges that the majority of pastors in Honduras and the rest of Latin America have economic challenges. For this reason, SEPE does everything in its power to offer pastors a quality education without the barrier of high rates for tuition and academic resources.
Currently, with the help of generous donors, the price of a two-week module (8 modules/yr) is $35, which includes academic resources, food, and housing in MEDA for the duration of the two-week module.
FLEXIBLE FORMAT
We are conscious of the need to be diligent in all our efforts to provide a high-quality education. To this end, we are thankful to have professors that are committed to internationally recognized academic standards. Our students receive a high quality, M. Div level education. We are also committed to enhancing our academic physical and digital library as well as using state of the art technology to provide a more effective learning experience.
